LEICESTER heat-leader Ryan Douglas has vowed to ‘come back stronger’ after a frustrating end to the Australian Championship on Saturday.
The popular Aussie struggled to rediscover the form that saw him reach his first semi-final of the series just two days previous in Mildura - scoring just the four points on a well-prepared Gillman circuit.
Former Belle Vue star Max Fricke became Australian Champion for the second time - joining an illustrious group of back-to-back winners including Swindon legend Leigh Adams.
Although disappointed with the overall outcome, Douglas acknowledged that his attention must now turn to ‘what will be a big season in Europe’ for the Watling JCB Lions star.
“It’s another meeting where I didn’t seem to have the speed in the bikes. The other top boys were quick again like they have been all series. I will regroup and come back stronger from this.
“Naturally I wanted to do better than I have but all attention now turns to getting stuff sorted for what will be a big season in Europe for me.”
